Job Summary:
The Program Specialist, Arts is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of an arts program within Community Arts and Social Engagement. Responsibilities include design, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs (theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and/or media arts); as is also responsible for administration and responding to public inquires.

Key Duties:
Supervises the operation of a program within a specialized arts venue and/or is responsible for the presentation of a production and/ or installation of a related discipline
- Responsible for the production/installation of a related discipline
- Liaises with artists to determine needs related to space or performance.
- Coordinates the mounting and selection of exhibits, displays, performances and / or programs.
- Ensures allocation of appropriate facility or equipment.
- Coordinates time-tables, timelines, and logistics.
- Liaises with public or media to promote program, exhibit, performance, and/or event.
Performs other related duties consistent with those described above.
Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and
Regulations and all City of Ottawa corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to
Occupational Health and Safety.

Education:
- Graduate of a College or university arts related studies program and/or practicing in a one of
the following disciplines: music, dance, theatre, visual arts, literary arts, media arts, or arts
education.
- Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the
City of Ottawa

Experience:
Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa

Certificate & Licenses:
- Red Cross Standard First Aid, AED training ,WHMIS training
- AODA Customer Service (Servability #Training)
- Current Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) Operator Certificate

Knowledge:
-Knowledge of Cultural Services Policies and Procedures.
- Excellent knowledge of the local arts community an asset.
-Understanding of Ottawa’s cultural landscape a various communities.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all City of Ottawa
corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.

Competencies/Skills & Abilities:
-Strong administrative abilities and computer skills, including City programs such as CLASS, SAP, MARKVIEW, etc.
- Very good oral and interpersonal communication skills in both French and English.
- Training and/or instruction skills.
- Sensitive to the needs of various ages groups and their learning ability
- Ability to use program specific tools and equipment
- Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa
-Applicant must be bilingual – oral, reading, writing.
-This position requires daily communication in French. Must show experience working in partnership with Francophone communities and Francophone arts organizations.
-Knowledge of the Francophone community in Ottawa is an asset.
