- Post Secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Recreation or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years experience working with adults with physical, development, sensory and other types of disabilities in a management of supervisory capacity. Experience supervising staff and volunteers
Valid Standard First Aid / CPR ‘C’ Certification Valid Crisis Intervention Training Behaviour Management Training Working knowledge of alternate communication systems Experience with volunteer management AODA Customer Service (Servability Training) Current Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) Operator Certificate
KNOWLEDGE: Legislation protecting the rights of special needs client and populations
Client care Health and Safety legislation, policies and procedures City of Ottawa and Parks &Recreation Branch Policies and Procedures Alternate forms of communication, systems and services respecting principles of working with persons with disabilities, Therapeutic Service Models
CPI certification Trained in lifts and transfers Ability to lead groups Conflict resolution skills
Displays initiative, reliability, and flexibility Good judgment and discretion Leadership Skills Understanding of Health and Therapeutic Recreation Models of Service Delivery
