- - College or University student enrolled and/or practicing in one of the following disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, media arts, or recreation
- Minimum 2 years practicing and/or teaching experience in related discipline, and have the technical skills and training required to safely use specialized equipment. -
- Previous experience working with children in a recreation setting, arts centre, or event.
Key Duties:
Responsible for the design, development, execution, and evaluation of arts and recreation programs, which involves theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, media arts, fitness, skating, swimming and/or camps education at multiple facilities/venues. Responsible for securing and allocating resource materials, program venues, staff, volunteers, artists, and equipment. Hires and supervises arts and recreation instructors or related program staff and is responsible for creating partnerships, securing grants, sponsorship and/or marketing.
Key duties:
Designs and evaluates arts and recreation programming for multidisciplinary needs
- Designs program mandate and objectives.
- Creates original content, resource materials, and/or unique program.
- Plans human resource allocations and related operating requirements including budget.
- Develops evaluation criteria and methodology.
- Secures partnerships necessary to implement the program.
- Seeks alternative program funding sources.
Responsible for the ongoing management of Arts and Recreation programming including:
- Monitoring and maintaining a designated budget, which includes revenue and operating expenses.
- Writing grant applications or securing additional resources such as sponsorships or services in kind.
- Developing and adhering to project time lines.
- Procuring and coordinating purchase of services and supplies for programs in a timely fashion.
- Hiring, training, supervising and evaluation a team of instructors and/or program staff.
- Developing volunteer requirements, ensuring volunteer recruitment, and supervision.
- Liaising with other City departments, arts organizations, provincial and/or Federal funding bodies.
- Ensuring adequate resource and promotional material for participants, artists, staff or the public.
- Overseeing day-to-day function of program or event.
- Writing media releases to increase arts and recreation awareness.
Creates and maintains a resource centre:
- Coordinates activities of staff to ensure that the database, which contains information used for research and promotional material, remains current.
Performs other related duties consistent with those described above:
- Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all City of Ottawa corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety.
