- The Instructor, Inclusive Recreation will direct a therapeutic recreation Day Program for adults with disabilities. Under the direction of the Coordinator, Inclusive Recreation Portfolio, this position is responsible for all functions relating to the delivery of the program offered through support of a community partner.
Key Duties:
1. Initiates and responds to inquiries about the program from the community.
2. Evaluates the needs of individuals and assesses requirements for volunteers with other health
professionals.
3. Develops all program planning, implementation and evaluation.
4. Completes medical forms and the pre-registration process for participants.
5. Works with primary service providers, families and is responsible for the care of participants.
6. Assists with training and evaluation of all staff members and volunteers working in the
program.
7. Manages and reconciles corporate purchasing card.
8. In consultation with the Coordinator, Inclusive Recreation Portfolio, this position is responsible
for the management of the program budget.
9. Responsible for the behaviour management of the participants and for crisis intervention.
10. Assists with interviewing and hiring of all staff.
11. Assists with supervision and evaluation of staff, volunteers and placement students.
12. Develops individual program plans in consultation with Recreation Therapist and Coordinator,
Inclusive Recreation Portfolio.
13. Purchases supplies and maintains receipts/inventory of program.
14. Oversees personal care duties for participants.
15. Provides regular meetings for staff.
16. Ensures individual program plans and documentation adhere to relevant standards of practice.
Education:
Post Secondary education in Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, Recreation or related field.
Experience: Minimum of five years experience working with adults with physical, development, sensory and other types of disabilities in a management of supervisory capacity. Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
