- Shifts

- Qualifications / Qualités requises
- The Program Specialist, Arts is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of an arts program within a specialized arts venue. Responsibilities include design, development, implementation, and evaluation of a program (theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and/or media arts) within a specialized arts venue; and is also responsible for administration and responding to public inquires.
Tasks include:
liaising with artists to determine needs related to space or performance;
ensuring allocation of appropriate equipment;
coordinating timetables, timelines, and logistics for programs;
liaising with the public or media to promote the program, exhibit, performance, and/or event;
ensuring appropriate planning and implementation of measures to secure and protect City equipment or artwork, artifacts, or equipment which may belong to an artist or third party;
ensuring and promoting the safe handling of equipment, artwork, artifacts by supervising activities;
creating and maintaining a safe environment for the public and audiences with training and /or supervision of clients;
creating and maintaining a safe environment for the public and audiences by promoting and implementing preventative practices;
attending meetings with arts and community partners to develop program plans;
assisting with program evaluation, reporting and administrative duties.
Education:
Graduate of a College or university arts related studies program and/or practicing in one of the following disciplines: music, dance, theatre, visual arts, literary arts, media arts, or arts education.
Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa.
Certificate & Licenses:
Basics of Fall Protection Training
Standard First Aid, AED training
WHMIS training
AODA Accessibility Training
Knowledge:
Knowledge of art discipline history and techniques and designing programs in related discipline.
Excellent knowledge of operating standards for specialized art venues and equipment related to art discipline (community/socially engaged art practices (CASE); art gallery design principles and aesthetics (CG); audio & visual equipment and troubleshooting as it pertains to livestreaming (VP))
Knowledge and interest in the local arts community an asset
Competencies/Skills & Abilities:
Very good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Sensitive to the needs of various audiences and program partners
Ability to use program specific tools and equipment (Microsoft 365 - Sharepointe, OneDrive, Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint (All); measuring and leveling tools, ladders, lighting equipment (CG); Zoom (VP))
Bilingualism is an asset
