 museum's hours of operation are 10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

- Qualifications / Qualités requises
- EDUCATION:	Minimum 2 years enrollment in University or College in history, social sciences, museum studies education or related discipline.
 
 EXPERIENCE:	Minimum of:
 •	2 years - interpretive or educational experience in a museum environment.
 and / or
 •	2 year experience teaching in a school environment
 and
 •	1 year experience in historical research and project writing.
 
 •	Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the corporation of the City of Ottawa
 
 •	Experience in skilled trade(s), including but not limited to, carpentry, blacksmithing, printing and animal husbandry, is required
 
 CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:	•	Red Cross Standard First Aid Certified including level “C” CPR or equivalent
 •	WHMIS training
 •	AED training
 
 LANGUAGE:	•	Oral fluency in English and French
 •	Very good reading and writing ability in English and French
 
 KNOWLEDGE:	•	Historical facts and information about the city of Ottawa
 •	Ottawa’s historical sites, museums, archives and other heritage institutions
 •	Educational and interpretive programming techniques
 •	Theories and practices of teaching
 •	Ontario School curriculum
 •	Proper museological techniques for the handling and display of artifacts
 •	Current trends in museum educational programs
 •	Client service needs
 •	Project management
 •	MS Office software including MS Word and MS Excel.
 •	General visitor centre procedures and techniques
 •	Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation and of corporate /departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety
