- Education
• Grade 10
Certificates & Licences
• Valid Standard First Aid/CPR 'C' Certification
• AODA Customer Service (Servability Training)
• Current Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) Operator Certificate
Under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Portfolio Manager or Supervisor or Program Coordinator, the Recreation Attendant:
Customer Service
• Provides service to customers with respect to inquiries, in person or by telephone, regarding programmes and use of the facility.
Communicates in person or on the phone with clients delivering specific program messages such as cancellations.
• Provides general supervision of user groups in the facility, and controls access to facility areas.
• Open and/or closes the facility when required.
• Assists in preparation of the facility for user groups.
• Ensures the facility is cleaned after an event.
• Assists Instructors, Leaders or other staff with equipment set up, take down and clean-up.
• Enforces / ensures compliance with facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures with customers using the facility.
• Ensures safety and security of customers, facility and equipment.
• Manages incidents that may occur with customers and facility users, may include contacting supervisor if situation is of a serious nature.
• Provides assistance to customers concerning use of recreation facility i.e. providing equipment.
Administration
• Collects statistical information, such as attendance for prepared reports
• Assists in the administration of centre equipment and supply inventory i.e. assisting with inventory review.
• Provides assistance and information to staff and the public concerning availability of furniture, sound systems, equipment, etc.
• Answers the telephone and takes messages on behalf of program staff.
Cash Management
• May accept limited amounts of cash from customers, such as drop in fees.
• Prepares a summary for any funds collected which is then submitted to a supervisor, customer service staff or is placed in a safe.
Other Duties
• Serves as primary and/or secondary first aid provider.
• Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all City of Ottawa Corporate/Departmental Policies and Procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned, which are unplanned, or of a transient nature and are consistent with the above job summary and duties
