- Shifts
- Relief shifts are available, as per the following schedule:
Tue 9 am - 3 pm
Wed 9 am - 3 pm
Thu 9 am - 3 pm
Fri 9 am - 3 pm
Sat 10 am - 3 pm(Sept to May)
- Shifts include 1 hr for lunch.

- Qualifications / Qualités requises
- EDUCATION:
Completed university or college history, art history, fine arts, social sciences or museum studies program or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE:
3 year(s) –collections management/registration experience in a museum/gallery/archives environment
and/or
3 year(s) –technical experience in a museum/gallery/archives environment (includes experience working with specialized tools for exhibit instillation)
and/or
2 year(s) experience in implementing preventative conservation standards
and/or
1 year experience supervising others
and
Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of the City of Ottawa
LANGUAGE:
• Oral fluency, reading and writing ability in English
• Bilingualism with be considered an asset
KNOWLEDGE:
• Provincial Conservation Standards for collections
• Registration practices and procedures
• Collection Management practices
• Knowledge of City of Ottawa standard computer software and museological /archival databases
• Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation

- The Inventory Specialist assists the Asst. Archivists, with the intellectual (information) and physical management of artifacts/artworks. Duties will include registration, cataloguing, prepares artifacts/artworks, prepares and maintains the display/exhibition /storage spaces, installs and dismantles the exhibitions, and receives shipments. Duties will include knowledge of museum and archival standards in regard to the handling and care, preparation for delivery and installation, and storage of a wide range of objects. The Specialist will be responsible for implementing various aspects of preventative conservation procedures and practices. The Specialist will assist with research and respond to public inquires. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating collection management projects, which may include storage and installation projects. While coordinating these projects the incumbent maybe required to functional supervise and instruct students, interns and or volunteers.
